In December 2023, journalist Estelle Ellis drew attention to children in the Eastern Cape facing weeks without the meals they ordinarily accessed through schools.
Daily Maverick invited its readers to respond. SA Harvest provided the infrastructure and community partnerships needed to turn that response into practical action. Together, the collaboration reached 1,702 families.
