Women Empowering Women

By

Every day, we are inspired and humbled by the women in our midst who work tirelessly and selflessly to ensure their communities do not go hungry. This month, we are celebrating these women who chose not to accept the things they cannot change but rather, to change the things they cannot accept. And so we invited the beautiful and talented Cooking with Zanele to join us in a demonstration of the power of ‘Women Empowering Women’. Hosted by the team at Makers Landing, Chef Zanele shared some of her secrets to creating nutritious, healthy, delicious meals with a few of the women in our circle of community kitchens – each one perfectly nutritionally balanced and designed to inspire our beneficiaries to use the ingredients we regularly receive from our generous food donors in new and nutritious ways.

Huge thanks to Chef Zanele for giving so generously of her time and talent, Makers Landing for hosting us, and our food donors I&JRCL FOODSElgin Free Range Chickens, Tiger Brands, Bidfood, McCain South AfricaTzu Chi South AfricaNestlé, OneFarm Share through HelloChoice, Denny, Morester Landgoed and Nutripick. Thank you also to Wonderbag for making the lives of these 12 women easier, and Sense of Taste Chef School for the student assistants. And, of course, to the inspirational women who joined us from the Greenville Soup Kitchen, The Waterfront Project, Mosadie gives backMercyAIDSCommunity KidsPot, God Can Soup Kitchen, Abundant Life Feeding Angels, The Laeeq Toffar Foundation, Gogo’s Kitchen, GROW SA and Rondevlei Feeding Angels.
