This Mandela Day, SA Harvest invites all caring citizens, corporates, and community groups to take on the exciting #BucketsofNutrition Challenge at the V&A Waterfront. From 11h00 to 15h00 on Thursday, 18 July, SA Harvest and the V&A Waterfront will be packing nutritious food buckets in energetic 10-minute time slots at Maker’s Landing, aiming to fill as many buckets as possible each session.
“We’re calling on the people of Cape Town to come together and make a real difference in the fight against hunger,” said Alan Browde, CEO and founder of SA Harvest. “Each bucket packed provides essential nutrition for families in need, extending the impact of Mandela Day well beyond a single day.”
Says Deidré Vrede, Senior Manager of CSI & Wellness at the V&A Waterfront, emphasises the V&A Waterfront’s commitment to addressing food insecurity through its social impact initiatives. In alignment with this focus area, for Mandela Day 2024, the V&A Waterfront has partnered with two impactful non-profit organisations dedicated to addressing food insecurity. One of these partnerships includes supporting SA Harvest’s ‘Buckets of Nutrition’ initiative, which offers a straightforward yet powerful way for the public to contribute. Prepare a bucket of essentials at home and drop it off at the designated V&A collection point or join us on Mandela Day at Makers’ Landing for a bucket-packing event. We look forward to your involvement in this meaningful cause.
Every R500 donated equals a bucket of nutrition that feeds a family of four for up to three weeks, making each contribution impactful and far-reaching. Financial donations toward the purchase of bucket list items are welcomed, as are volunteers to help pack the buckets.
Join us for a fun-filled day at Maker’s Landing, where you can snap selfies, meet celebrities, and win exciting prizes. Register now to participate and find out more information on www.saharvest.org.
