Sometimes all it takes is a conversation. That’s how a chat between our own Janine Levy and Tersia Fourie from Hy-Line South Africa at NAMPO Harvest Day, an annual agricultural trade show held at NAMPO Park in the Free State, turned into something meaningful this Mandela Month.
As part of our effort to support Grade 12 learners in under-resourced communities, SA Harvest distributed trays of eggs to three of our Gauteng-based Community-Based Organisations:
Eggs are often a luxury in many households – and they’re even harder to rescue. They’re rich in protein and nutrients, making them a valuable addition to the diets of young people preparing for one of the most important exams of their lives. The learners received them with real appreciation. Some spoke about sharing them with family, which made the gift go even further.
The timing was just right. As families face growing financial pressure, the eggs helped ease the burden and brought some comfort to learners and their homes.
While eggs weren’t part of our Buckets of Nutrition campaign, we’re proud that these learners still received this added support alongside their buckets.
SA Harvest is proud to partner with Hy-Line in our shared mission to nourish the bodies and futures of young South Africans. We extend a heartfelt thank you to Tersia and the Hy-Line team for their kindness, compassion and commitment to uplifting learners during such a critical time.
Together, we’re not just feeding people. We are feeding potential.
