A Milestone of Meaning:
On Thursday, 6 November, we joined our incredible partner Fair Cape at Little Angels in Hout Bay to celebrate something truly special: the shared achievement of 500,000 meals provided through our partnership.
When Fair Cape chose SA Harvest as their exclusive food rescue partner in 2024, it marked the beginning of a collaboration rooted in purpose: transforming surplus into sustenance and ensuring that perfectly good food never goes to waste while South Africans go hungry.
In less than a year, this partnership has nourished half a million people. This milestone represents far more than meals. It represents restored dignity, reduced waste, and a shared belief that good food belongs on plates, not in landfills.
At Little Angels, we saw this impact come alive. Together with the Fair Cape team, we helped serve lunch to more than 350 children and adults including little ones from the daycare, learners from the aftercare programme, and elderly community members who rely on these meals for nourishment and connection.
Plates were filled with warm, wholesome food, fresh fruit, and vegetables. Families took home produce to prepare additional meals, extending the ripple of generosity beyond that single day. The joy was tangible, especially when the kids were treated to Fair Cape’s delicious dairy products such as flavoured yoghurts and creamy chocolate and strawberry milkshakes, rare and treasured treats in a community where such delights are often out of reach.
For both SA Harvest and Fair Cape, this day was a reminder of what is possible when businesses and nonprofits work hand in hand. We didn’t just see food being served; we saw hope being restored.
Little Angels, one of our cherished beneficiary organisations, serves hundreds of people in their community every weekday. Their dedication ensures that children, families, and the elderly have access to daily nourishment and a sense of belonging.
As we mark this milestone, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Fair Cape for their trust, generosity, and belief in the mission to end hunger by ending food waste. Together, we are proving that when purpose and partnership align, impact multiplies, one rescued meal at a time.
