We don’t just rescue food. We rescue dignity. Purpose. Potential.
That purpose does not only live in what we do, it lives in how we do it. Which is why, managers from all three SA Harvest regions gathered at the Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr boardroom for something deeply important: a transformative two-day Culture & Values Workshop hosted by Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute.
Across Friday and Saturday, the room was alive with conversation, curiosity, and connection. We explored what it means to truly live the SA Harvest culture, how our personal values align with our organisational DNA, and what we need to shift in order to build the future we envision, together.
Starting with Why
The workshop wasn’t about adding words to a wall or ticking a corporate box. It was about asking the hard, human questions:
Through practical frameworks like the Barrett Model, we examined the current values that define SA Harvest, both what we’re proud of and what’s holding us back, and looked honestly at the gaps between who we are today and who we want to become.
89% Aligned and Striving for More
One of the most powerful moments came when the results of our Cultural Values Assessment were shared. The outcome? An inspiring 89% alignment score across the organisation. In the world of culture-building, that’s no small feat. It speaks to the commitment, heart, and unity already present within our teams.
But we’re not stopping there.
As we reflected on the data, we also challenged ourselves: Where do we go from here? How do we evolve our culture not just to support our mission, but to elevate it?
Purpose is a Team Sport
Culture is not created by posters or policies. It’s created in conversations like these, vulnerable, values-based, and deeply human.
It’s created by managers who take a weekend away from the grind to look inward.
By teams who are willing to ask: Are we living our purpose, or just working in it?
And by every person at SA Harvest who chooses to show up not just as an employee, but as a custodian of our mission.
As we move forward, we carry with us not just the workshop insights, but a renewed sense of why we do what we do. We’re not just feeding people. We’re feeding change, and it starts within.
With Deep Gratitude
We extend our warmest thanks to Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr for so generously hosting us in their boardroom and for going above and beyond in making us feel welcome. From the thoughtful, delicious catering to the warm hospitality, and for giving up a Saturday to be with us, your support reflects the very spirit of what this workshop was about: shared values, shared purpose, and collective impact.
We are truly grateful.
And to Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute, thank you for guiding us through such a meaningful, values-driven experience. The impact of these two days will echo through every delivery, every conversation, and every act of service still to come.
Because when we align our values, we amplify our impact.
