Importance of Adhering to the Bucket List
Consistency and Quality: All participants must strictly adhere to the provided list of ingredients when purchasing items for the nutritious buckets. The list is designed to ensure that each bucket contains the essential nutrients needed to support families in need.
Nutritional Value: Sticking to the specified items maintains the quality and nutritional value of the food provided. Each bucket should offer a balanced mix of carbs, protein, nutrients, and a little bit of sweetness, essential for a nutritious diet.
Uniformity: Adhering to the list ensures uniformity across all buckets, making the distribution process fair and efficient. This uniformity allows us to accurately monitor the contents and ensure that every family receives an equally nutritious package.
No Nomination of Beneficiaries
Equitable Distribution: Participants cannot nominate a beneficiary of their choice. SA Harvest is responsible for the equitable distribution of the buckets to families in need across Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.
Centralised Distribution: The centralised distribution model is designed to reach the most vulnerable and needy populations efficiently. This approach ensures that the resources are directed to areas and individuals most in need, maximising the impact of every donation.
Focus on Impact: This policy helps maintain the broader impact of the initiative, honouring Mandela’s legacy of unity and compassion. It supports as many families as possible without bias or preference.
Participation Process
Sign Up: Participants must register their participation by completing the online form.
Set a Target: Participants must decide on the number of buckets they will pack. Each bucket is designed to feed a family of four for several meals.
Purchase Ingredients: Participants must download the bucket list and purchase the ingredients either in-store or online. For convenience, ingredients can be ordered online for delivery.
Prepare for Packing: Ingredients should be set up for packing with the heaviest items at the bottom. Participants will receive instructions and guidelines upon registration.
Pack the Buckets: Buckets should be packed following the instructions provided to ensure they are perfectly weighted for easy lifting.
Deliver or Arrange Collection: Packed buckets can be dropped off at designated locations or collected if the donation is 50 buckets or more.
Donations
Virtual Buckets: Participants can donate virtual buckets by making a monetary donation in denominations of R500. Each R500 donation equates to one bucket, which will be packed by SA Harvest.
Bulk Orders: Participants can order ingredients in bulk from Makro for ease of delivery.
Collection Service: For donations of 50 buckets or more within a 30km radius of our warehouses, collection can be arranged.
